Meet the founder

Angel Tramontin

Founder & CEO · Diablo Padel

Angel has had a racket in his hand since he was a kid. A family visit to Panama in 2017 put a padel racket in it, and he never really looked back.

Venezuelan, raised in Cincinnati, he has chased the game across Latin America and Europe ever since. He is a member at padel clubs here in the Bay and plays most weeks, which is how he knows exactly what the East Bay is missing.

What hooked him was never the game itself. It is the long hangs after the match, the friends you make on court four, and the unspoken rule that you stay for one more. Diablo is built around that.

Diablo is his second company. He co-founded GoPlai, an AI platform that turns parent-filmed youth sports footage into highlight reels, and shipped the product himself with no engineering background.

Before that he spent six years at LinkedIn in San Francisco, most recently leading AI product strategy for the company’s $15B+ commerce platform, then finished his MBA at Berkeley Haas in 2026.

Track record

  • Co-founded GoPlai and took it from a Berkeley Lean LaunchPad project to a working product, on the back of 100+ customer interviews, writing the full stack himself
  • Built Diablo’s brand, financial model, website and payment stack himself, and took in the first founding deposits before a lease is signed
  • Led AI product strategy for the generative AI support agents now in production on LinkedIn’s $15B+ commerce platform
  • A serious road cyclist who organizes the rides, from Mount Diablo and Hawk Hill to a two-day trip he built for twenty riders down a car-free stretch of Highway 1 in Big Sur

Why Angel is the right operator

  • Community is the product. A life spent pulling people together: DJ sets, group bike rides, and four club boards at Haas. Padel is the most natural canvas he has found for it.
  • Founder-market fit. Venezuelan, Spanish at home, and part of the Latin community driving padel’s growth in the US.
  • A player first. A member at Bay Area padel clubs, on court most weeks, and a game he has carried across Latin America and Europe. He is building the club he wants to play in.
  • Deep Bay Area roots. Six years in San Francisco and an MBA at Berkeley.
  • All in. Turned down an AI product role after Haas to build Diablo full time.

The name nods to Mount Diablo, the peak you can see from almost anywhere in the Bay, and it winks at where the sport comes from.
